• Origins & Purpose Shisa are traditional Okinawan guardian lion-dogs inspired by Okinawan mythology and Chinese feng shui. Placed on rooftops or at entry gates, they act as spiritual protectors, warding off evil spirits, bad luck, and fire.
• The Male Shisa (Right Side / Mouth Open) Positioned on the right, the male Shisa sits with his mouth wide open in an “A” (阿) shape. His role is to fiercely scare away evil spirits and invite good fortune into the home.
